About the event
Families for the World, a twenty-year-old ministry created by the Cantrall Family, is starting a home-school co-op centering around world missions and the Great Commission. Through studying various missionaries and the countries they served, we hope to instill a passion for the lost and create a desire to reach them no matter what the cost. Co-op classes will be held on Tuesdays from 9 to 3:30 and will include the following spring 2023 classes. . .
* Cultural Geography taught by veteran home-school dad Darren Cantrall. Darren has a bachelor's degree in secondary history education and has been on numerous mission trips to India, Burma, and Thailand. Using Amy Carmichael biographies and auto-biographies, Darren will delve into the history, culture, and geography of India. Gleening from Amy's example and his own passion for the lost of India, Darren will lead in-depth discussions that will leave students challenged and inspired. Interactive activities will be emphasized so that students of all learning styles will remain interested and engaged.
* Interactive Storytelling taught by Creative Writing major Lizzie Cantrall. Lizzie has been a serious writer for over ten years-- receiving raving reviews from her professors who have encouraged post-graduate work and ultimately publication. She is also an accomplished scriptwriter with experience in directing and performing her own plays. In this class Lizzie will guide her students in building characters and plots from India, creating tension, writing dialogue, and learning how to write scripts as a team. At the end of the semester, students will have written a complete play together which they will perform at an end-of-the-year gathering.
* Cultural Art taught by Haddie Cantrall, who is working toward a BFA in sculpture and jewelry making. Haddie has experience in teaching a variety of art forms to a wide array of students. In this class, students will develop a keen knowledge of ceramics, multi-media painting, graffiti art, and jewelry making. They will also develop a critical knowledge of the art practices of Indian culture from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Students will have the opportunity to display their artwork at the end-of-the-year gathering.
* Literature taught by Anna Cantrall, book lover extraordinaire and Journalism major. Anna owns more books than the Kewaskum library, has read them all at least twice, and remembers every minute detail of each of them. In this class, Anna will delve into the rich world of Rudyard Kipling's greatest works. Books will be read together during class, followed by lively discussions, and ultimately the viewing of classic film renditions of each book. At the end of the semester, students will have a deeper understanding of Rudyard Kipling's writing style and how his works give insight into the turbulence of Indian history. Simpler versions of the books will be used for younger students.
